Grand Catador was established on a simple conviction: that some of the world’s most exciting wines deserve a place on Ohio’s tables. Founded by a native Chilean with deep roots in South American wine culture, the company blends heritage, authenticity, long‑standing relationships, and a strong commitment to high‑quality wine.

THE FOUNDER
A wine enthusiast who found love for Ohio
Patricio Vargas is a native Chilean who found both love and home in Ohio. His passion for wine began nearly 30 years ago during his college days in Santiago, where he immersed himself in wine tastings, harvest festivals, and visits to both prestigious wineries and family‑owned producers across Chile’s most iconic valleys.
His curiosity led him to explore wine regions in Argentina, France, and the United States, expanding his passion for the diversity of wine. He discovered that true appreciation goes far beyond the glass — it lives in the craft, the vineyards, the people, and the stories behind each bottle.
Later, after more than twenty years in international business, supply chain, and distribution, he chose to bring that experience and passion together to build a meaningful venture in wine distribution.
